While studying at the University of South Carolina in Aiken, Cathy was encouraged by her professor and mentor, Mr. Albin Beyer, to develop her talent by studying classic and contemporary artists and by exploring various media. Since relocating to the Charleston area four years ago she has continued to refine her work by studying the work of other artists, past and present. Her own work frequently focuses on people in everyday environments.
